ESG audit and assurance

What is a sustainability audit and assurance?
A sustainability audit seeks to answer a few key questions:
- What are the sustainability-related risks and opportunities in your business?
- How is your business organised in terms of ESG policies, processes, and strategies?
- How can your business maximise the opportunities and mitigate the risks in order to reduce costs, protect profitability, and retain staff and customers?
What’s included in the Green Ibex audit and assurance package?
Okay, enough waffle. Let’s get to the good bits.
Our ESG audit and assurance package is super-duper pragmatic and actionable. Whenever we deliver one of these for a client, we usually work with either small teams that are spread very thin, or with one-person-sustainability-teams on the verge of burnout.
Worry not. You’ve made some stellar progress to date but need to:
- Document and measure it – so you can use the information in tenders and contracts
- Have an specialist sense-check your data and carbon accounting method to make sure you’re not going insane
- Have a third-party validate your strategy and targets to meet certain requirements such as access to capital or sustainability-linked loans
What’s the difference between a sustainability audit and an ESG audit?
Technically, there is a small difference between them. An ESG audit focuses on the environmental and social risks most likely to impact your business model, while a sustainability audit looks at the existing policies and processes you have in place and what you can do as a business to become more environmentally and socially responsible.
We use these interchangeably. Whenever we deliver an audit for a client, we bring in the most relevant aspects of both an ESG and a sustainability audit.
When is third-party sustainability audit and assurance right for you?
A sustainability audit is perfect when you’re already making progress but need to start documenting it. It’s the classic “you can’t manage what you don’t measure”.
An external audit and assurance gives you tools to start measuring your impact and turns your action list into a solid, data-backed strategy that you can share with customers and other stakeholders.
It’s an opportunity to take stock and refine your strategy with specialist input – and check what opportunities or risks you may have overlooked.
Get ahead – get a third-party validation of your work that will go a long way with funders and clients.
