From marine conservation to retail and sustainability consulting: Meet Peta

Peta isn’t your average sustainability expert—her journey has taken her from marine conservation to sustainable fashion, and now consultancy – with a few adventures in between. She has lived in Indonesia, worked to protect marine ecosystems, and even developed a fascination with… sea slugs (you have to look them up). Her career has been shaped by a deep commitment to environmental impact, and today, she brings that passion to the business world.
Peta has a sharp understanding of sustainability legislation, corporate responsibility, and the urgent need for systemic change. She’s helping businesses embrace greener practices—not just for compliance, but for real, lasting progress.
🔹 Sustainability that actually makes a difference
For Peta, sustainability isn’t just about small individual actions—it’s about structural change that holds real weight.
“I believe it is unfair to ask individuals to make changes—change should come from businesses and be driven by science-backed policy.”
That’s exactly why her work at Green Ibex is so fulfilling. Every day, she collaborates with companies to integrate sustainable practices in a way that is both pragmatic and profitable.
“When I used to work in marine conservation, I felt like I was mopping the floor while the faucet was still running. Whereas in sustainability, I believe the difference I can make is larger and has a more cascading effect.“
With a keen eye on emerging trends, she’s particularly excited about how legislation is ramping up the pressure on companies to make real, measurable progress.
“Let’s put the pressure on and start making some lasting changes!”
5️⃣ Things about Peta
- 🌊 A certified scuba diving instructor who lived in Indonesia. Now she dives just for fun, but the ocean remains a lifelong passion.
- 📏 Believes overconsumption is one of the biggest sustainability challenges. The ‘buy more, buy now’ culture has to change.
- ☕ Keeps it simple with a short or long black coffee. No frills, just good, strong coffee.
- 🎨 A hands-on creative. Crochet, pottery, painting, lino printing—if it’s a craft, she’s probably tried it.
- 🤔 Best career advice she’s received? “Don’t argue with an idiot—they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
🔹 Learning, laughing & what’s next…
One of the projects Peta’s most proud of? Her work with Lexington Corporate Finance (case study opens in a new window).
“It was really interesting to look into their emissions—there were a few good surprises, as well as a few areas where they could really improve and I think we helped them do that!”
But beyond the work itself, it’s the team at Green Ibex that makes all the difference.
“The Green Ibex team is fantastic. I always laugh a lot when we are in the office together, and we can all laugh at ourselves.”
With her deep expertise in sustainability and her commitment to real change, Peta is helping businesses take meaningful steps toward a greener future—one strategic decision at a time.
